Sorry for the 11 days of downtime, folks. This server got hit in the rolling blackouts through Texas on the 3rd, and I haven't been able to devote time to tracking down what kept it down since. Normal service has resumed.
That backup generators didn't kick on quickly enough was annoying, but overall that puts them on the hook for an hour or so of downtime, tops. The rest is my busy schedule (making time to play phone tag, figure out problems over VPN, etc.), and hardware failures on hardware I personally own (failure to boot when power was returned, and some BIOS errors that should not be triggering).
They could have prevented downtime entirely, but I could have mitigated the impact vastly more than I did, because this is a hobby for me.
ciHost should have switched to generators manually as soon as the power emergency was declared. They usually are required to do so by their power contract. The generators worked the first few times, but failed during the second or third blackout.
