About the Author
Hacker by trade, mathematician by training, Texan by the grace of God. Hello, my name is Matthew Weigel. I work on video games, MMOs to be exact. I'm a database/server programmer; I used to work on Dungeon Runners, and before starting my current job as an infrastructure engineer at BioWare, I also worked on an unannounced project for 2K Games.
I used to be best known online for maintaining the rec.martial-arts FAQ. It was a source of pride for many years, and I still maintain it, but I haven't been active on Usenet for a few years now. I also keep a copy of the group's Newbie Guide, but I'm only the maintainer of it in the most basic sense.
I try to maintain a list of personally-satisfying technical books, by no means complete or comprehensive but I hope you find it useful. I seem to maintain a lot of lists like that in public. Huh.
If you'd like, you can send me signed and encrypted email (you can cross-reference that key with the MIT PGP Public Key Server). If you want to stalk me, I'm on LinkedIn and FaceBook.
What I say here I say as myself, not as a representative or employee of any company.
